My installation artwork, Ex Libris, is a finalist in the Flying Arts Regional Art Awards and is going on tour to Brisbane, Cairns, Port Douglas, Townsville and St. George.

The project started as an opportunity for community connection and reflection on the of loss of native avian biodiversity, and a chance to make a positive contribution.

The original installation at Logan Art Gallery consisted of 1,000 porcelain bird skulls, handmade by community members in Logan, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. Each skull was available for purchase by $10 donation to Australian Wildlife Conservancy via QR code. So far we have raised $730 and each skull that was removed from the installation reflected an act of reciprocity with nature.

Ex Libris sought to create momentum in raising awareness and a positive change towards making kin with wildlife.

Now, the project continues to gain momentum as it is also a finalist in the Wollongong art prize, and will be shown at several regional galleries over the next three years. So, more skulls are needed! Come and join me in a free workshop and make a contribution to the project and to supporting bird conservation.

Many thanks to everyone who has made this possible, including @loganartgallery @gabba_art @parkercontemporaryau @metroarts @bree_dimattina @kbfculturalprecinct @loupecreativespace @yllapohssib @maroochybotanicgarden, as well as all the participants, volunteers and supporters of this project.
